Heart of My Heart
A darker cardinal red, fully double peony, with very attractive petal formation that flowers about 3 weeks later than the first Red Charm. (I would describe it as late under the A.P.S. registration guidelines.) It has attractive sealed flower buds and can open up to a size between 150-200mm (6-8") on the bush, although cut flowers often don't open quite as large. The bush grows to about 800mm and appears to be healthy and vigorous. I chose this variety principally for its cut flower possibilities since it appears to last well in the vase. However, the large flowers can flop on the bush, and it will definitely need support for garden display.
